SPACES: LIGHT & BRIGHT

One of the most important things on my mental checklist for my future home is natural light. Oversized windows and big sliding doors are definitely my friend! Check out these beautiful spaces and the way that they've used simple styling & neutral colour palettes to make their homes seem even more bright!

SPACES: LOUNGE LOVIN'

This week's obsession... Lounges! After a long day at work the only thing I want to do is curl up on my couch and veg out, and I think that having an inspiring & creative lounge room can work wonders on speeding up the relaxation process.

These are some of my top picks - it's amazing what you can create with a simple colour palette and some interesting wall art!

SPACES: BEDROOM INSPIRATION

Lately I've been scouring Pinterest for some much needed bedroom inspiration because I've been feeling the urge to re-decorate coming into the colder months. I usually get pretty moody around this time of year and it's nice to change things around a little to try and brighten my spirits! I'm loving these simple neutral colour palettes, with some plant life, wall art & textiles to add that little touch of colour.

One thing that I really dislike about having carpet in our apartment means I can't go crazy with rugs. They can make an otherwise boring room look so homey!

FINDERS KEEPERS

This weekend is the annual Finders Keepers markets in Sydney, I haven't been for a couple of years but all I can remember from previous years is stalls and stalls of amazing design, art & other goodies. I'm going unsupervised which is 100% going to end badly, I need someone there with me to stop me from buying things from every stall! Here's a (very) small selection of some of the designers appearing that I'm super excited about - Ella Mobbs & Courtney Brims are two of my favourite illustrators so it'll be great to see their work in person!

The Finders Keepers website has all the info you need if you're keen on checking it out. It runs Friday & Saturday, so there's plenty of time to head over and support some seriously talented Australian artists!

PLANTER LOVE

Lately I've been scouring the internet searching for some new planters for our apartment, and I've found some seriously awesome stuff! I'm a huge fan of hanging macrame planters, too bad I don't have any hooks in my ceiling to hang them off!
I'm definitely on the copper bandwagon too, sometimes the choice between silver or gold just isn't enough. Check out my favourite picks and be sure to visit their Etsy sites, plenty more where these came from ;)

WISHLIST Vol. 1; ETSY

It's nearly payday, so that can only mean one thing.. Online shopping! More to the point, filling up my shopping cart and then seeing the total cost and thinking "maybe it's time to stop now." Etsy is such an amazing source of inspiration, as well as having a tonne of quirky little gifts. If I'm ever stuck for present ideas it's always the first place I go, I'm guaranteed to find the perfect thing!

Coming into the colder months I'm trying to fill our apartment with as much "life" as possible, which means plants plants & more plants! As a result I've found myself gravitating towards all things green. It's more than likely just a phase but I'm definitely enjoying it while I can :)

PINNING Vol. 2

One of my smaller (and more achievable) dreams is to one day have a little space of my own to make a studio/office for myself. Even if it's just a shoebox of a room, that'll be enough for me! Below are some of my current favourites (I fall more and more in love with Pinterest every day!)

I'm all about natural light - the bigger the windows the better. You may have also noticed a bit of a pattern emerging with the chairs... My Charles & Ray Eames obsession hasn't subsided at all!

CHAIR ENVY

Recently I've started to develop a very unhealthy chair obsession.. which is made even more unhealthy by the fact that I have a small apartment that can only hold so many chairs! Below is a (very small) selection taken from my current wishlist..

The Charles & Ray Eames chair (1) is my absolute favourite. I am absolutely head over heels in love with their furniture, which might be a problem for my bank account... White + timber + steel = the ultimate combo! I've found a little local shop that stocks this particular one, and although I am dying to splurge, I'm waiting until I actually have a logical/practical use for one, otherwise our apartment is going to start getting a little crowded!

HOME

Here's a little glimpse into my humble abode. My partner and I moved in about 5 months ago, I'm absolutely smitten and I never want to leave! We hit the jackpot with this apartment, it was probably a bit silly to find somewhere so awesome for our first place because we'll have pretty high expectations for our next place.. Oops.

We pretty much had to start from scratch - we'd both lived out of home before but never bought proper furniture or anything. So that meant trips to one of my favourite places in the world - IKEA!! I'm constantly finding little knick knacks and I have a bit of a problem when it comes to walking away from awesome furniture (how amazing is my blue bedside table!)
My pride and joy is actually the dining room table & chairs (alas, not pictured), I painted them myself and it turned out so much better than I thought it would! Keep an eye out for a post dedicated to it :)

PINNING Vol. 1

I've been spending quite a bit of my spare time on Pinterest lately, so I thought I'd share some of my favourite recent pins. I'm a bit of a decor fanatic, my poor (but very supportive) partner has to put up with my constant excitement over re-decorating and new furnishings. Below you can find a (very very small) sample of my favourites!
My Pinterest can be found here, and underneath are links to all pins used :)

WHERE THE MAGIC HAPPENS..

and by "magic" I really mean a tonne of procrastinating and watching baby animal videos on YouTube.
I need to be surrounded by pretty things otherwise I go a little bit mental.. Plus re-decorating is one of my favourite things! Moving back to my old home in a month or two so I get to plan a whole new desk arrangement when that finally happens.. May or may not be counting down the days.
